General Information
Christchurch is very beautiful in the spring; it is known as the Garden City. The Botanic Gardens, which are near the Convention Centre, are full of daffodils and spring flowers. The trees around the city are covered in blossom.
The city is easy to navigate as it is laid out in a grid pattern starting from the city centre, which is known as The Square. The Convention Centre is only two blocks from The Square, and the central business district is compact and within easy walking distance.

The hotels and motels recommended are near the Convention Centre, no more than 5-10 minutes walk.
A shuttle from the airport to the city centre costs around $15-$20 and a taxi costs around $30.
The weather in September is very changeable. Temperatures range from 1 degree right up to 21 degrees. Winds can be strong and bring the feeling of snow right off the mountains or can be hot and drying. You will need plenty of layers of clothing to cope with the changes.
There is plenty to do in Christchurch. The Christchurch City Councils website will give you details of whats on in September.
The Canterbury marketing website and tourist information centre website will give you plenty of information about the region, including ideas about what you can do when visiting this area.
