How To Find King's College

From Auckland Airport

From Auckland International Airport, travel along Tom Pearce Drive, and follow it through onto Puhinui Road (a natural progression). Puhinui Road will take you past Manukau Memorial Gardens on your left to a motorway on ramp.

Travel northbound until you reach the first turnoff, Massey Road interchange. Take the turnoff, and turn right onto Massey Road. Follow Massey Road north for approximately 2 km until you reach a railway overbridge. Continue over the bridge and look to your right, you will see the King's College Campus. Once past the bridge, take the next right turn into Middlemore Road, follow to the end and turn right into King's College gates.

From Auckland City Centre & State Highway 1

From Downtown Ferry Terminal / Bus depot, Quay St. From the terminal, turn left into Albert St (opposite the Ferry Building). Take your first left into Customs Street East, and then immediately your first right into Queen Street, the main street of Auckland city. Travel up Queen Street until you reach the top, and turn left into Karangahape Road. At the top of Karangahape Road veer right to an onramp for the Southern Motorway. Ensure you are in the centre lane on Karangahape Road to get onto the interchange. Once on the Southern Motorway travel approximately 10km's southbound, and take the Princes St Otahuhu turnoff. Once off the motorway follow the signposts to Middlemore Hospital and this will lead you to the top of Golf Ave after passing Otahuhu College on Mangere Road. Turn left into Golf Avenue and you will see the entrance to the College at the bottom of the road. If you miss the turn, take the next left into Middlemore Road. Both will lead you to King's College.
Welcome to King's College.

Getting Around Auckland – a guide for visitors

While at CLESOL, you may also want to travel around a little. For people staying on site at King’s College it may be a trip into the central city or other attractions. For people staying locally, or with friends around Auckland, this may be simply travel to and from CLESOL.

Despite the stereotypical images of clogged motorways, public transport does exist in Auckland. In fact, King’s College is easily reached by train. The King’s College campus is between two train stations. Middlemore (for northbound travellers) is only 880 metres away. The Mangere station (for southbound travellers) is 660 metres away. Northbound trains from Middlemore go to Britomart (city centre), via either Newmarket or Sylvia Park. The Otahuhu Transport Centre (2 km away) is a bus route hub, with onward services to Middlemore and/or King’s College.

The MAXX website ( www.maxx.co.nz/index.html ) has information on public transport routes, timetables and fares. The journey planner facility works with any combination of bus, train or ferry, and provides maps of door to door walking connections.

Those of you seeking the full Auckland experience may wish to sample the traditional delights of motorways. Fortunately, since CLESOL will be during the school holidays, traffic peaks should be a little less intense than usual, and weekend traffic is generally free flowing. Nevertheless, commuting can be quite time consuming. Regularly updated information on motorway conditions is available at: http://traffic.transit.govt.nz/Traffic.do

The chart below contains the distilled experience of regular commuters.
