CALL FOR PAPERS

CLESOL 2012 invites submissions of abstracts for individual papers, workshops, colloquia, five-minute brilliant ideas and posters .

Submission Deadline: 2 April 2012

Conference Theme

The theme of the conference is Emerging opportunities in new learning spaces: He akoranga hou, he huarahi hou.

This reflects a variety of contemporary challenges that exist for both learners and their teachers, such as engaging in blended and diverse learning situations, integrating content and language, increasing intercultural interactions, and building relevant needs analysis and leadership models in different teaching/learning contexts. The second language learning environment inevitably creates new spaces for those who venture into it, where comfortable norms meet up with new ways of doing and saying. We hope that this theme will both be widely inclusive and inspire you to bring your ideas to this conference.

Presentations, workshops, and colloquia that relate to the conference theme are especially welcome, but all topics relevant to language teaching and learning will be considered. Presentations may include:

  • Practice-based ideas, approaches, and strategies for teaching and learning language
  • Research-based inquiry into topics relevant to the conference theme and language teaching and learning
  • Theory-based inquiry into topics relevant to the conference theme

The committee encourages first-time presenters, especially those from the primary and secondary sectors, and hopes to establish support from more experienced ones.

Presentation Formats

  • Paper, 30 minutes including 10 minutes for questions/responses
  • Workshop, 55 minutes
  • Colloquium, 110 minutes
  • Five-minute brilliant idea
  • Poster (to be displayed at designated times throughout the conference)
